Can you tell I'm a major Supernatural fan?

A job I applied for asked me to write a recap of an episode from a favourite TV show. Naturally, I chose Supernatural since, well, it's Supernatural. No explanation needed. Sadly, the job and I were not meant to be but I thought I'd share the article since it is on a show that I love.

The One in Which Kelly Doesn't Die

One rogue angel. One broken friendship. And one less demon to worry about. I think it’s safe to say we were all a little shocked on the Supernatural episode titled The Future. The future of what exactly, seems to remain unclear since the episode had quite a few surprises.

First we witness a hopeless Kelly trying to end it all, only to be brought back by her unborn child. Pretty creepy, I know, but did we really expect anything less from a child of Lucifer? Castiel comes back, so the first 10 minutes are pretty intense, setting the pace and our pulse rate, for the rest of the episode. And as if biting your nails wasn’t enough, you’re in for Dean’s displayed emotions, when Castiel reappears. Stiff upper lip, Dean!  Nevertheless, the pair made amends and the infamous trio were back in action to save the day. Or so we thought.

Turns out we were slightly wrong. Castiel apparently had his own agenda, rather than save the unborn child and his mother, which is what Sam and Dean wanted, he was going to kill them. The question had been on the table for a while whether he would be able to make the choice of killing an innocent and well, it seems we got our answer. Castiel and his angel pals stormed the safe house where Dagon was holding Kelly captive, the angels kept her busy while Castiel went to find Kelly, but it appears he could not pull the trigger and they escaped together. Yes, you heard correctly. The trigger, no angel blade in this scenario but the famous Colt stolen from his best friend Dean. Oh Castiel. What are you doing?  Meanwhile, back at the bunker, Dean and Sam come up with a way to save Kelly and Lucifer’s child but quickly realise that Castiel had left with the Colt. They eventually track Castiel down to a motel where they confront him in a heated discussion.

Fast forward and the final showdown happens with Dagon at the sandpit, AKA the entrance to heaven and it is epic. Obviously, our beloved heroes Dean and Sam come charging in but they are no match for the wicked demon. Before Dean can pull the trigger she takes the Colt, melting it within seconds with her demonic powers. She tries to kill Castiel but fails. He smites her with never seen before power and that’s when we see it. He has yellow eyes! Like the powerful demons that follow Lucifer. As if we weren’t already blindsided by the yellow eyes, the next shocking moment came when he forced the Winchesters to pass out, choosing Kelly and the baby over them. It ends with them driving off. At least they didn’t steal Dean’s precious Impala again, so that’s got to count for something, right? The episode leaves us with a thirst for more and many unanswered questions. What is Castiel doing? What does this mean for the Winchesters and what about the Men of Letters who were surprisingly quiet within this episode?
